Zonalinenews-OElamasi, Regency administration has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with two private universities in the country. Both the private higher education institutions are Christian University (UK) Petra and the Catholic University of Widya Mandira Kupang (Unwira).
The signing of the MoU referred to, carried out in order peningkatanan and development of human resources and community services in the area of Kupang district.

The MoU was signed at the office of the Regent of Kupang, Tuesday (28/1) to Kupang Regent Drs. Ayub Titu Eki, MS, Ph.D. represent Kupang regency administration, Father Julius Yasinto, SVD, MA, M.Sc representing Rector Prof. UNWRA and Kupang. Ir. Rolly Intan MASC, Rector Dr.Eng representing UK Petra Surabaya.

While the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Field Work Experience program or that the term Christian University (UK) Petra better known as Community Outresach Program (COP).
Implementation of COP, was conducted by a joint student Petra and abroad including the University of the South Korean Dong Seo University and in 2014 joined the University of newcastle.

Rolly Intan MASC., Dr.Eng in his speech said that the implementation of the COP in the UK Petra has been started since 2006 by conducting civic cooperation agreement with South Korea’s Dong Seo University where cooperation that has been running for 15 years. Rolly Intan added, every year more than 100 students consisting of various universities in many countries such as South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, the Netherlands, Australia and have been sent to various villages in Indonesia to conduct a variety of activities over a period of 2-4 weeks in the villages.
Associated with activities in the district of Kupang, Rector Rolly Intan said that the implementation of the COP will be followed by 3 campuses, namely from UK Petra Surabaya, Unika Widya Mandira Kupang and Newcastle University in Australia with a range of activities including covering the COP Physical activity (Project) as renofasi schools, houses of worship, medical centers. As for non-physical activities that do things like intelligence development of children’s education.
“It attracted the attention of many countries, due to cultural interaction and cooperation of various national teams from various disciplines into a unique phenomenon in the COP, but it pengalamam living in the community are also considered to be a challenge that is fun for them,” said Rolly Intan.
Similar delivered Unwira Kupang Rector, Fr Julius Yasinto, SVD, MA, M.Sc in his speech said, Campus Center of institutions of higher education which leads located at Jalan Adi Sucipto, which is administratively part of the district of Kupang.
“The campus was originally located in the city now that we’ve moved the center of campus, and until now the majority of college students have been doing activities in the campus center,” he said.
Father Julius Yasinto say, the presence of students in service learning programs dimaksukan Unwira to apply the knowledge gained during the course in order to be useful and beneficial to society.
“Through this MoU, we can mengaplikatifkan our educational programs in order to contribute to the advancement of the science of Kupang Regency society.” Said Father Julius Yasinto, who on 24 September 2013 and then re-inducted as Rector Unwira for a second term.

“The timing of the COP is limited but I hope the impact is not limited to be remembered,” said Regent Ayub Titu Eki.

Associated with it himself so expect the presence of students from various campuses through the county program Kupang can make a breakthrough through the development of a significant movement one of which is to collaborate with the movement of plant science in Kupang district programs and Forced Plant Cultivation (TPPT).
He said, Kupang regency is still categorized as 100% rural areas classified as rural territory that is suitable to the development of agriculture and livestock movement.
Therefore he is very hopeful students who came to be involved and active in supporting TPPT program by making location-pilot farms to be developed continuously or more focused so that the real impact for the betterment of society.
Through the signing of this COP will run for 5 years, Regent Ayub Titu Eki expect the movement to make the pilot farms can be started, so it can be sustained every year and leaves an impression and tangible results for the community.
“We expect this to be a class of agricultural land is open to any student who CCN / COP can learn from it and become a hallmark of the COP in Kupang district”, he hoped. (rrk)
